Well, well, well ... how deep can reality TV get? We know it goes deeper than the seething core of Earth. But, there is hope on the horizon!

Buzz Aldrin, at 80 years young... will be one of the contestants on the next "Dancing With the Stars" TV show! Go Buzz, you rock!!!  The show begins sometime around March 10 or so (sorry, did not look it up). I would love to see Buzz go far in this competition, but I cannot help to think (Mr. Aldrin)..."How in Helen did you get into this TV show?"

Perhaps you wished to meet Pamela Anderson or (Kate Gosselin????????). {Other contestants} Regardless, Mr. Buzz ~ Have Fun!!! ~ Robin

Buzz shined on "Dancing With the Stars" tonight, March 22! For 80 years young, so handsome and happy to be there. (The airing showed a second shot of his wife, also very lovely and hot!) As always, Buzz promotes to do your best, explore and love it.  He was introduced as a living legend. I believe he has much more to offer as a member of this planet earth. So do we all!!!

I love seeing Buzz on this highly rated show. I would also love to see him stay longer. Go to the ABC website to vote him to stay with the show...and watch (see website for times). I hope I have his vitallity of mind and spirit when I am 80!  A Buzz Aldrin admirer, Robin

Good heavens (literally!), what next?

Sounds nice, Robin.  We sometimes get some of the US versions of these reality shows here later (SA mostly also has its own versions), so I might get to see that for the novelty value

There is a whole nebula or two of reality shows on various alternate TV channels these days. I do not watch them either. I do watch some regular channels (CBS, NBC, ABC) now and then when a show interests me. I was not a regular fan of "Dancing With The Stars", but realized it was a respectable "game show", "reality show", "charitable show". I do watch some "mainstream TV. I also watch the "science" channels. "Dancing With The Stars" is about the most respectable "reality" show on TV. Do not knock it anyone if you never watched it. (I was in the "knock it" catagory my self for a time.)

When Buzz Aldrin was asked why he signed up for this show, he said he wanted a new challenge. He is 80 years old/young! Watching Buzz on the show (as pre-show/rehearsals and post/dance interviews), he always gently without being crass ... promotes in his own way the importance of Space Exploration.

The show calls him an "icon". I call him so DAN CUTE!!!  Buzz got the lowest "scores" from the 3 expert dance judges for the first "elimination". It is the kind of show where folks can go online and vote who they want to stay with the show. Perhaps that turns some off, a popularity contest. This a populaity contest I wish to vote for in the name of Buzz Aldrin. If any wish to check out this show, Buzz is saying tons of good things for Space and all that entails.

Just for fun, after the first realm of dances, the show put together a comedy shoot of the "celebrities". Buzz's  comedy was about his T-shirts...every practice session he was filmed in, well ... he was wearing a space T-shirt! LOL!!!

Most of all, Mr. Buzz Aldrin is about the most dedicated and most handsome 80 year old friend within our Space that I know.

I am proud to see him on a mainstram show. I am thrilled to see him "remind" others about Space. ~ Robin

"Knocking it" was the wrong words on my part. I aplogize.  "A bit disappointed to see a commercial about the upcoming show with him in it" was not postive.

Buzz Aldrin may have been more "commercial" and letting his name known for the pursuit of Space exploration than others whose accomplishments are many to be applauded! I am a huge fan and love of Buzz because he has put his name "out there". How many folks not into astronomy or space issues actually go looking into what's up??? How many come here?  But, how many folks know the name Buzz Aldrin? Quite a few more do! Buzz is on the board of The Planetary Society and has been utmost in promoting exploration beyond our wee Earth for all his life.

Buzz Aldrin has a "Ken/Barbie doll make in his image. I actually found it online Ebay and bought it about 10 years ago. It had full gear and educational material for an astronaut. Another "commercial" thing, but promoting Space. I no longer have it, Why? A longtime friend's son in Florida was showing strong interest in astronomy & space. I sent him a beginner's book on astronomy, some things to add to his young bedroom decor re: space, and my cherished Buzz doll. If I encouraged this one child to continue with these interests, then Buzz's doll was worth it!

Again, I applaud Buzz Aldrin for keeping the importance of space exploration in the minds of those who would and could forget. Buzz's appearance on "Dancing With the Stars" is especially critical now as the budget for NASA here in the US once recently was increased is now more recently under more cuts. Sucks a black hole. Buzz does not scream about this, but gently reminds all when appropriate about "What's Up". I am so happy he has the opportunity to do this along with challenging himself and having a Dan Great Time doing it!

Now, since this Kata-gory is FUN STUFF, let's get back to that. I will continue to update here about Buzz's dancing adventures. (That is when I have the time to watch, if not will check in online for updates.)

Love and Happiness to all, may you Tea Cup always be full! (Or coffee mug!)   ~ ;)   ~ Robin

I did not  view the whole show tonight, was busy...luckilly I did catch Buzz's dance.    So handsome in his "gear" and bowtie, he did well but most of all was enthused with a smile!   May I say a smile larger than a full moon! Buzz is having a 'Helen" of a great time. Not as limber as the youngers, he received the lowest score again.

Buzz is such a spirit for "heroes" of these days, for him and those not so notibly present...I hope enough folks vote him in to stay with this show.    Buzz is doing a wonderful job of reminding us about life on our earth. I "vote" with him! ~ Robin

Well, Mr. Aldrin got space-booted, sent back to the moon, kicked off the show this week. :(   He not only received the lowest judge's scores, he did not have enough public support to stay on and dance.

I was very impressed and encouraged by his closing remarks. Buzz remarked about reasons he did the show. They were for the other old geezers , for a new challenge, and to bring to the public's attention the importance of space and space exploration. I am glad I was able to watch this show while Buzz Aldrin was a participant. You rock space rocks, Buzz!!! Your explorer's spirit and verve will be missed on "Dancing With the Stars"!   ~ Robin

Robin, your running commentary was right on.  I watched Buzz and was throughly impressed with his participation.

Sorry he did not get to stay on. He was a star in my eyes.

Thanks Lili, as I was not the only one to view Buzz's participation!

A good friend of mine comes over once a week or so, she is single and working hard to make a good life for herself. We watch fun TV or old movies, play and/or walk Helen and Danny and I offer my washing machine and drier so she may do her laundry...and we have some dinner together. We have continued to watch the episodes of "Dancing With the Stars" when she can make it on Mondays. Tonight, as the show panned the audience...There was Mr. Buzz Aldrin!  He was giving support for his new friends. I hope to see more of him before this series of the show is over!  Just another "friend" of "Buzz", Robin
